Our founding story and unique purpose
We, the Alumni, former students, faculties, employees, and their families of the Booker Washington Agricultural and Industrial Institute of Liberia, holding ever dear to our hearts our beloved Alma Mater; and remaining ever aware of her invaluable contributions to our lives by an immortal bond between ourselves and all aspects of life and activity of our Alma Mater by way of united and harmonious action based on our gratitude to her, do hereby formally organize ourselves into an international body known as the Booker Washington Institution Global Alumni Association, referred to as BWIGAA. Overwhelmed by a constant desire to contribute to her continued development, expansion, and growth, we are bound by these Constitution and By-Laws for the governing of ourselves and conducting our affairs and business.
Our mission: supporting BWI and its alumni
Our mission is to organize BWI graduates, their families, and Friends of BWI located worldwide into a supportive and resourceful Association. We strive to achieve emotional and physical wellness by providing quality educational, economic, and social services for the improvement of their lives, all for the benefit of the Booker Washington Institute in Kakata, Liberia.

BWIGAA envisions a BWI-Kakata where high-quality technical education and trades elevate Liberia’s citizens and communities, fostering a highly skilled workforce. Our core values include: Integrity – Maintaining moral uprightness; Excellence – Commitment to the highest standard of behavior and administrative practices; Respect – Recognition of values and dignity of others; Diversity – Welcoming our differences; Leadership - Acknowledging responsibility to our members, officers, and the community within which the Organization exists while focusing on our mission; Fun – Civil social interactions among members; Compassion.
